WEEK 1      29.07 - 02.08

29.07 - 02.08

Laja Field of LajaMartin is an international dance-theater creator, educator and performer. Originally from Salt Lake City, Utah, Laja has recently been an adjunct professor and guest choreographer at NYU | Tisch, she frequently teaches at The Space LA , Peridance NYC and most recently served on the audition panel for the MA Dance Performance at The Place | London Contemporary Dance School. She continues to share her uplifting, joy-spreading, challenging dance practice across Europe, the US and beyond.
Take a full body deep dive into the world of LajaMartin style dance theater. Based on a foundation of floorwork, Impulse will flow smoothly into building strength and finding efficiency in riding momentum. Push the heights of physicality in phrase work soaring from floor to air with textures defined by musicality and rhythm. Through guided movement prompts, voice exercises, acting games and more, you will explore the ways in which you can stretch as a performer. Unlock endless possibilities of transformation.

Guy Nader, originally from Lebanon, is based in Barcelona, where, with Maria Campos, he found the ensemble GN|MC. Their creations have reached across Europe and beyond. As a teacher, Guy has been invited to share his knowledge on dance in professional training facilities in Rome, Brussels, Berlin, Amsterdam, Zagreb, Barcelona and many other cities.
Guy's "Falling and Rolling" workshop is based on physical and powerful floor work by which many movement patterns, involving breathing, speed and release of energy through the body are put to use. Studying the mechanics of the body you will use spirals and a strong notion of the body’s gravity center for entering and exiting the floor in endless ways, combining the different planes seamlessly.

Here comes your warm-up team: Kasia, Paulina and Leon!
During DO Festival 2024 the Collective Nest crew will welcome movers to start the day together with a fresh morning class. Ranging from body-awareness tasks to impro scores to fun phrases and maybe even some partnering exercises our main goal is to get together and to get ready for the coming workshops of each day. The Collective Nest crew will be hosting the warm-up classes during week 2 and on Monday and Friday during week 1 of DO Festival 2024.
